Los Angeles City Maximum Occupan cy Law: OCCUPANCY LIMITS
---------------------------------------------------------------
HOW TO DETERMINE
LIMITS
The agreement which
is made between a landlord and tenant will determine how many
persons are allowed
in a dwelling unit. This agreement is legally binding as long as it
does not violate the
occupancy standards listed below. If an additional tenant moves
into the unit, the
landlord may increase the rent up to 10% for as long as that tenant
is occupying the
unit. These increases require a 30-day notice.

ENFORCEMENT OF
LIMITS
Even if you do not have a rental agreement which limits
occupancy, you may still evict if the tenant has more people than
the law allows. Of course, if you do have a rental agreement
which limits occupancy, that agreement would control.
